Jason Robert Clark has been painting since the age of 10. Jason has exhibited his work in numerous art shows along the West Coast. He studied art at both Western Nevada College and the University of Nevada, Reno to refine his style of painting. He looks to break out and cement a name for himself through his work in the visual arts. Many have defined his art as being very elegant high end abstracts with a unique contemporary touch. The clean and intricate style of his work will shine a new light into the art world. He has a great eye for colors as it shows in his single and multi panel works.

SAGEBRUSH DIOGENES CLUB

In 2022 Nevada’s own Minister of Inert Gases, Jeff Johnson comes out from under his rock to occupy the Savage Mystic Gallery for the month of July.

Johnson, a former Railroad Conductor, came to Reno from Winnemucca in 1994 to learn a new trade. After a few years of wage slavery at local cowboy sign companies he built his own means of production in an old brick chicken coop in his yard. Custom signs and vintage restorations are a specialty. He is a student of art history and an advocate for art that has never been done before. His first claim to fame with the assistance of Jill Berryman at Sierra Arts Foundation was “Fish Breath in the Year of the Plague”, 20 neon Cutthroat Trout swimming upstream to spawn under the Truckee River in 2001. Bruka Theatre is the home of his evolving exhibit, ‘Asexual Reproduction in Nevada’ on the Mapes Plaza, since when the Mapes was still standing. The Noble Instigator of the original ‘’Dada Motel, Celebrating Reno’s Unlimited Potential for Absurdity,’’ in 2007, he has collaborated with a thousand other local artists. To ensure nobody else can make the claim Mr. Johnson has assembled the “Pilfered Pines Neon Landscape Gallery”. Reno’s premier neon and Postmodern Art Gallery since 1995 in his backyard. No taxpayer funding has been wasted on his art projects. His latest endeavors have been the construction of temporary Neon Geoglyphs on public lands and prominent promontories. When it comes to Public Art Jeff Johnson prefers to ask forgiveness instead of permission, if necessary.

For the summer show at the Savage Mystic the Minister of Inert Gases will bring new works commemorating the current plague with an 18’ obelisk and honoring Jimmie Rodgers, the Singing Brakeman who came on the scene in the USA the same year as neon, 1928 . Things he hasn’t thought of yet are also in the works.

Jeff Schomberg

Jeff Schomberg uses steel, stainless steel and aluminum to craft his, or clients ideas into sculptures that are inspiration, impactful and engaging.

The Monumental Word Series, is embraced worldwide. XO was selected as part of the Renwick Gallery (Smithsonian) Burning Man exhibition. Municipalities have installed words to capture their city’s essence. The City of Reno purchased BELIEVE as a tribute to the city’s revitalization, its “Renossaince”. The City of West Palm Beach purchased BE ART, their first large-scale purchase in over two decades. The City of Arlington purchased DREAM, installed at the Dream Park near the Dallas Cowboy’s Stadium. Words have been displayed at the Sundance Film Festival, the Life is Beautiful festival, the TED Conference, and more. The Venetian in Las Vegas purchased a LOVE, proudly displayed in their two-story waterfall atrium. LOVE was purchased by the Paradise Ridge Winery in Santa Rosa. After the grueling wildfires, images of LOVE in print acted as a touchstone for hope, resilience, and connection.

Schomberg collaborates with artist Laura Kimpton on the Monumental Word Series, he has also worked with artist Hank Willis Thomas to help him create the sculpture All Power To All People.

Schomberg’s creativity softens the rigidity of metal into playful shapes that embrace both nature within ourselves as well as nature around us. Schomberg lives and works in Reno, NV.

Potentialist Show

The Potentialist Workshop is a multidisciplinary collaborative arts collective in Reno, Nevada. Each facet of the collective aims to explore and question that which shapes contemporary culture, art, and the ideas behind them. Our Workshop includes artist’s studios, recording studios, a black-box theater, and a contemporary gallery. The Potentialist provides space and support for all types of artists, innovators, and collaborators.

Potentialism is the melding of boundaries between play, poem, sculpture, painting, and music. The lines that separate the arts become so blurred it becomes impossible to see where one begins and the other ends. Potentialists are interested in abolishing these lines. We believe a contemporary artist should have understanding of all forms of art. This will allow the artist to unlock their infinite potential.

The Savage Mystic Gallery was built by Potentialists and is proud to present a Potentialist Show featuring Art from Pan Pantoja, Naomi DiVine, Eric Brooks, Orlando Oh, Steve Elegant & Jack Ryan

“I have seen things in this life that I am incapable of translating into words. In my practice I have visited realms where the imagination ends, and the terrifying beauty of infinity unfolds over and over again.

If I could distill into words exactly what motivates me to create the art that I make then it would not be worth making it. Instead I have chosen the Pen.

Honestly I don’t know why I make this art, or what compels me to keep creating it; it’s a mystery I intend to pursue for the rest of my life, and each image brings me closer to the Ultimate Truth.” -Android Jones, 2013

REMNANTS

An Art Exhibit featuring original paintings by muralist Bryce Chisholm a.k.a. ABC Art Attack will be on display at the Savage Mystic Gallery throughout the month of February. We will hold an artist reception on February 12, 2022 from 6-8pm for the show entitled “Remnants”

_________________________________________________________

Arthur Bryce Chisholm is an artist born in the Biggest Little City in the World, Reno, Nevada. Bryce graduated from Earl Wooster High School and then continued his education at Truckee Meadows Community College. He then furthered his education at the University of Nevada, Reno, under the guidance of Michael Sarich, this is when his art really began to grow.

Exploring many subjects from history, Bryce has always had a fond liking for undervalued beauty. Finding the best parts of a dirty city has led to his love of graffiti and street art. Coming upon a beautiful mural in a dark seedy alley always leaves a good impression on him. The message graffiti can get across is very powerful to Bryce and inspires him to push his art, in ways that portray real human emotions with a raw street feeling.

Bryce has painted in nearly every medium there is from oil, acrylic, water color, spray paint and basically anything he can get his hands on. He likes to paint… a lot, and he will do it on just about any surface he can get a hold of. Stencils have been his latest passion. Designing and cutting out a stencil is a long, finger wrenching process that is so rewarding in the end. Using stencils, spray paint, and acrylic to create intricate paintings with vibrant colors is what fills his current body of work.

You can find more info about Bryce on his Facebook art page AbcArtAttack. Follow along and see daily post and progress shots.

Most of his art can be found on Deviant Art, where he also started a group called Nevada Artist Unite, which showcases art and photographers from around the state of Nevada.
